Although it is misleading to the title of this post, “Great and Not Great”, I want to whine about the “not great” part of this missive first. I think that seasonal bastard “ceiling fan-itis” has finally caught up to me. Every year, when we start often sleeping with the ceiling fan on, I get sick. I always know it’s going to happen and I’m never surprised when it does but it just feels so damn good. Waking up this morning, my throat hurts, my nose is clogged, and my head feels under water (because it probably is). All of this “blaming the ceiling fan” is malarky though because our friend Amanda has had a head cold for a week. So, truly, I believe that the way my head feels today, Friday, June 10, 2016, was an exercise in teamwork between fan and head cold. I took a DayQuil so here goes nothing “wheeeeee!”
So now let’s get to the “great” portion of this thing. Last night I finally got into a shop that I’ve been trying to get into for a while. The door is always locked but last night it wasn’t. I have been drawn to going in here because it’s all about “natural health”. A woman was inside and she turned out to be a holistic doctor. I was sort of wide-eyed and weird about asking “What is it that you DO here?” We ended up chatting at the front desk for TWO HOURS. I didn’t even realize that’s how much time went past. It was a great thing though. She had a lot of interesting things to say and it turned out that we see life in a very similar way BUT she has a lot of wisdom from being a holistic doctor that I don’t. I don’t know what it costs to see her. I have to check and see what’s covered by insurance but I was pretty inspired to meet her. I’ve been kind of veering towards natural health options, not eschewing western medicine at all, just kind of getting really interested in how to heal your body and your mind without pills.
What else? I think that’s it from me today. I need to get myself up and exercise but “Sick Coleen” doesn’t really want to do anything nice for “Healthy Coleen”. “Sick Coleen” wants to sit on the couch and watch The Mary Tyler Moore Show with a cup of coffee and a blankie on. “Healthy Coleen” wants to go into the living room and dance to The Mary Tyler Moore Show with a cup of coffee. I guess both Coleens just need a cup of coffee and a dash of MTM. I can do that. Bye.
